♈ AA: Late Morning; Phone

Is everyone feeling better now? I hope so! Everyone was in a bit of a frenzy and I was really worried about everyone.

Maybe we can do something fun to get past it. That sounds like a good idea right? We shouldn't get stuck on all those negative feelings! Things really aren't that bad! It was just a really huge bump or something!

I saw that there's an environmental, recreational area that would be suitable for outside activities. I think we'd be able to play there right? Does anyone want to do that?

♈ AA: Afternoon; Action at the Park

[So Aradia was given a jump rope by the drone mom in her house and was ushered off to the park.

Except...Aradia doesn't know what a jump rope is. Instead, she has taken one of the hats from the closet in her hive and is now running around the park with that hat jammed on her head and using the jump rope as a whip.] This isn't a very good whip! I wonder if there's supposed to be an alternate use to this item.

[Even so, she'll continue her fun in the park.]

♈ AA: Late Afternoon; Action around the Town

[Being the good girl she is, she's picked a whole bunch of flowers from around the park and she's giving them to anyone that looks like they might be feeling down. Nothing like trying to bring some cheer to others.] Here you go! you look like you could use something to cheer you up.

I have read and seen that humans often enjoy picked decorative plant-life as gifts to make others feel better. I hope that it helps!

Oh. But wouldn't skipping while holding a rope be the same as just skipping without one? I didn't know humans needed a rope to help them skip. [Not getting it...] A bolo? What are those like?

[Of course she doesn't find it weird.]

Usually, yes - but when seen as a toy, it rarely has a function. However, sometimes it's used as a training technique for agility and cardiovascular health.

[ Ilsa smiles, ] There's ways to use anything as a tool. It just takes looking at it from another angle.

I still don't understand how a skip-rope works. It doesn't make much sense to me.

Oh yes. I understand that though. Just awhile ago I was told that chopsticks and bottles could make wonderful music!

May I demonstrate? It's a little short for me, but I think I can manage a small bit.

[ Ilsa sets her book aside on the bench, standing. ]

Oh, yes please. I'd like to learn how to use it.

[She hands the skip-rope to the other.]

[ Ilsa takes it, and demonstrates a simple skip-step, her feet barely a few inches up, before she starts on a double bounce with a side swing pattern. ]

[ She chuckles, as she misses the front cross skip. ] As I said, it's a little short for me.

[ She hands the rope back to the girl. ] I'm Ilsa. I don't think I've seen you about.

Oh. So that's what you're supposed to do! [She'll have to try on her own later.]

Aradia! I think this place gave me a new last name though. It's usually Megido.

I arrived a human month ago or so. Something like that.

[ Ilsa smiles, getting used to people who are not being used to being human. ]

You may be what you were before, sooner or later.

I still introduce myself with my name. It's not like most people call me by my last name anyways.

And I usually forget that it changed until someone calls it. [In which she spends a long time realizing that they're calling her.

Most of us that are aware understand it. Many of us have to deal with changing names.I've had three... names assigned to me since I got here in April.

[ She seems a bit sad at that admission. ]

Oh! What is your usual name then? I can call you by that! Or your first name! Whatever you'd like me to call you by.

Does that mean if people change in my home, my name will change?

Back home, I'm Dr Higa. Here, I'm called Mrs Spengler by the drones. The houses are named for the adult male in the house. Patronymics are the norm for the are a and era they're trying to recreate here.

So it's based on the father unit! That would explain why my last name is the man who lives in the same house as me.

Higa is a nice name though.

It's from my mother's side of the family. So I'm non-traditional in more ways than one.

I don't think that's necessarily bad! Whatever makes you happy right?

It does. The part that I dislike is the rigid forms here.

Is it not always this rigid where you're from?

This is similar to maybe my grandparent's time, so with 75 years, there's been a lot of changes. People standing for what they want, and eventually it happens.

I think back home, we tried to get change too. It didn't quite work out as successfully though.

It takes time and a lot of people, but it can happen.

I always hoped that trolls would stop treating each other based on their blood. It's just silly.

Hope is a powerful tool. Just keep trying, and maybe the next cycle will let it turn about.

Ah, I didn't know. I am sorry to hear that... but still - you're here, and still able to give the message. If not for your world, maybe for another.

I think we'll be alright here. My friend, she's the empress to be. She believe in equality. People here don't discriminate against blood either.
